Junior and Senior Assignments for the week of December 1, 2014





Seniors

Monday- Students will complete their journal and ACT prep the first ten minutes of the class. Then the class will read chapter 12 of Brave New World, continuing their dialectical journal and working in comprehension packet.

Tuesday- Students will take the semester final.

Wednesday- Students will complete their journal the first ten minutes of class.  The class will complete chapter 13 & 14 of Brave New World, continuing their dialectical journal and continuing to work on comprehension packet.

Thursday- Students will read the first ten minutes of class.  The class will complete chapters 15 and 16 of Brave New World, continuing their dialectical journal and finishing the comprehension packet.
Homework- Read Chapters 17-18 and complete dialectical journals.  Due Monday!

Thursday- Students will read the first ten minutes of class. Students will read chapters 13-14 of The Scarlet Letter, completing the symbol and character analysis in their journal.  Chapter 13-14 character will be Chillingworth and the symbol will be Chillingworth’s evil demeanor.

Monday- Students will complete their journal and ACT prep the first ten minutes of the class. Then the class will read chapters 4-5 of Brave New World, continuing their dialectical journal and answering the corresponding chapter comprehension questions.

Tuesday- Veterans Day, No School!

Wednesday- Students will complete their journal the first ten minutes of class.  Then the class will read chapters 6 (Parts 1 and 2) of Brave New World, continuing their dialectical journal and answering the corresponding chapter comprehension questions.

Thursday- Students will read the first ten minutes of class.  The class will complete chapter 6 of Brave New World, continuing their dialectical journal and answering chapter 6 comprehension questions, as well as chapters 1-6 Vocabulary Handout.

Monday- Students will complete their journal and ACT prep the first ten minutes of class. Students will read chapters 3-4 of The Scarlet Letter, completing the symbol and character analysis in their journal.  Chapter 3-4 character will be Roger Chillingworth, and the symbol will be the prison.

Wednesday- Students will complete their journal the first ten minutes of class. Students will read chapters 5-6 of The Scarlet Letter, completing the symbol and character analysis in their journal.  Chapter 5-6 character will be Mr. Dimmesdale, and the symbol will be the Scarlet Letter.

Thursday- Students will read the first ten minutes of class.  Students will review chapters 1-6 of The Scarlet Letter and examine how Hester was punished for her crime of adultery, how she is judged by the people in the crowd as she stands with Pearl on the scaffold, and how she judges herself.  Students will then be asked to think about instances in today’s society in which someone is revealed to have committed adultery.  Students will then write a well thought out essay comparing Hester’s punishment and treatment in her Puritanical society with how an individual would be treated and punished in today’s society.
