Find passages in the text that support the theme of a story.

Monday- Teacher will remind students to check weekly blog and briefly discuss agenda items. Teacher will discuss Essential Questions: What is theme? How does the theme differ from moral? What is theme? How is the theme supported throughout the work? Teacher will review last Friday’s exam questions.

Proper nouns and common nouns will be sorted. The teacher will lead discussion dissecting the text’s organizational pattern. In coop. Groups, students will create a plot diagram of the story based on the 4 organizational patterns used. Class will discuss pros and cons to each model. Students will then brainstorm ideas for their own children’s book about success incorporating specific organizational patterns. Read chapter 5 in Everything’s An Argument and answer question 3 (be prepared to present and discuss Wednesday).
